Hybrid Air Conditioning System

Based on a coupled closed loop and open loop absorption cycle, this system decouples the treatment of sensible and latent heat loads in the cooling process. This increases the system efficiency and provides the ability for independent humidity and temperature control.

Size – Scalable from residential to commercial applications.

Air Conditioning

Based on a Closed Loop Double Effect Absorption Cooling System, the system is ideal for dry locations which do not need dehumidification.  It is designed to operate using low-grade heat sources such as solar thermal. This ability to use either existing infrastructure heat sources (natural gas), off-grid heat sources (solar), or waste heat from other cycle/systems provides an unparalleled level of flexibility.

Status – Single Effect Prototype has been tested.


Dehumidification/ Water Heating

Based on an Open Loop Absorption cycle, using an Ionic Liquid as the liquid desiccant, the system dehumidifies room air and utilizes the waste heat to provide heating for hot water. The liquid desiccant is regenerated within the system eliminating the periodic maintenance requirement of desiccant replacement found in solid desiccant systems.

Status – Prototype is in the test phase.
